"A drug trafficker was jailed for nine years today after organising the smuggling of 20 kilos of high purity heroin into Scotland in tool boxes attached to the underside of a lorry by magnets.

Cameron McFarlane tracked his illegal cargo as the HGV made its way from the Netherlands via the port of Hull to a Stirlingshire freight firm using spyware placed on the vehicle."

Police have warned that should drivers or hauliers become aware of items being attached to the underneath of vehicles that police are notified and the items are not touched or attempts made to remove them.

 

"The logistics industry has warned of gridlock on roads and shortages in shops if frictionless trade is not maintained between the UK and EU after Brexit."
