Happy April 1st! March was a busy month for SBRC and it shows! Here is a breakdown of the best stories and updates from our work-streams and partners: 

March 4th  - Scottish Tourism Month: Top Tips to help avoid Holiday Booking Fraud: The Scottish Business Resilience Centre is getting involved with Scottish Tourism Month by highlighting some of the ways in which some unscrupulous individuals can take advantage at this time of year, leaving holiday makers out of pocket, and what we can do to minimise this.

 

March 8th  – Mail Screening and Suspect Packages: Following on from recent events in London and Glasgow, both the Metropolitan Police and Police Scotland are investigating. Although still at an early stage there may be a link between the incidents, although both police forces are keeping an open mind with regards to the motive.

 

March 8th  – SBRC Partnership Shines Bright at the Counter Terror Awards 2019: This year, the Security Industry Safer Scotland CT (SISS-CT) working group, an industry-led group which operates in collaboration with the Scottish Business Resilience Centre, Police Scotland, the Security Industry Authority (SIA) and security companies were nominated for Best Counter Terrorism Project (UK/Ireland).

 

March 13th  – Constellate Launches New GDPR Training Web App: Exciting News! Constellate, powered by Droman Solutions Ltd and The Scottish Business Resilience Centre has launched their GDPR – Accredited Training App online!

 

March 14th - Call for Businesses: Get Involved with the Tay Cities Cyber Quarter: Chief Executive of the Scottish Business Resilience Centre, Mandy Haeburn-Little, is calling for businesses to get involved and support this new investment which will position Dundee as a key player in the UK cybersecurity industry and will play a crucial part in retaining the skills talent that is produced there.

 

March 21stSBRC Board Member becomes Scotland’s second accredited FoI and Data Protection Expert: SBRC would like to send a huge congratulations to Laura Irvine, an SBRC Board Member on her achievement as becoming Scotland’s second accredited Freedom of Information and Data Protection expert.
