SBRC collaborates with HIE to deliver cyber resilience workshops in the Highlands and Islands

Highlands and Islands businesses of all sizes can access up-to-date and practical information and advice on how to improve their digital resilience through a series of workshops to be delivered right across the region by the Scottish Business Resilience Centre (SBRC) in conjunction with local partners.

SBRC is set to deliver at least eight workshops between November 2019 and February 2020 which will see their team of cyber resilience professionals and ethical hackers outline the current cyber threat landscape, offer simple, yet effective tips on how businesses can protect their data and systems from cyber-attacks and signpost businesses to free advice.

Eamonn Keane, Chief Operating Officer for Cyber Security and Innovation at SBRC said, “Developments and innovation in digital technology mean that geographical limitations on creating and sustaining successful rural businesses are really falling away.

“At the SBRC, we want to do all we can to support businesses of all sizes in all sectors to allow them to trade by doing their best to prevent the occurrence of the incidents that may get in their way – in this instance, digital interruptions to day-to-day operations.

“We hope to welcome as many businesses as possible to our workshops, from farming, the marine economy, manufacturing, the IT and engineering sectors, distilling, food and drink, retail and tourism, the list goes on. We are all interconnected and by sharing best practice and learning from each other, we can make Scottish businesses in all regions more resilient.”

The SBRC kicks off its cyber resilience workshops in Stornoway on 14 November and Benbecula on 15 November with Remarkable, who will deliver advice on workforce retention and development, and Skills Development Scotland, who will discuss Skills for Growth and the Apprenticeship Family.

Details of further sessions in other regional centres (Forres – 3 December 2019, Orkney – 22 January 2020, Inverness – 5 February 2020) to follow.
